I am no photographer. BUT we have hummingbirds outside our breakfast room window all day every day, so I thought I'd document it. They are really cute.
(Even when they are mating! "Mommy, why do the hummingbirds keep falling down?")
The hummingbirds aren't mating there. This time of year Ruby-throated hummingbirds congregate along the TX coast in preparation to flying over the Gulf of Mexico to their winter grounds in Central and South America. When they find a flower or feeder they like, they will fight off other hummingbirds--thus the aerobatic display you're seeing. While two of them are fighting, often another one will just take advantage and sip away. It's not too uncommon to have multiple birds fighting over the same feeder. Quite fun to watch!
