Kanga the Wallaby Baby

Last Thursday we drove to just north of Austin to pick up our new family pet--a baby wallaby (miniature kangaroo) named Kanga!  (After Kanga and Roo from Winnie the Pooh).

Eli and Dora were giddy.  Emmy had no idea what was going on.  Ha.  Here's our first look (Eli is featured with the little bits.)

Dora forgot to put shoes on and we didn't notice until we were well under way.  So Whit got her some (ill fitting) pool shoes at a truck stop.  Haha.  She hated them, but she loved the new pet!  Can you tell she was excited?

Here are Emmy's toes to prove she was there.  She was smelling feet to get used to us.

We went outside for 3 minutes before heading home to say hello to my old wallaby, Sydney.  I had to sell her when I sold my house and moved into an apartment years ago.  Sad day.  Now I have her baby! Happy day!
Here's a shot of little Kanga.  She lives in our laundry room until she moves outside.  :-)
 Munching some grass.

Her very best friend in the whole wide world, Dora.  Haha.  She's her most patient and ardent fan, with Eli as a close second.  Dora would sit in with her all day, though, and she's happy to pick up her poo pellets and throw them away for me, which I appreciate.  (We are still working on the potty training.)

ELI TURNS FIVE!!!

Eli had more parties than any kid deserves!  Friends party at Build a Bear, and then my parents came by Saturday and then a family party Sunday night--and then his actual birthday (this) Monday morning we had a little donut party and he got his presents from the family.

Here's a few shots from Sunday.  My mom with little Emmy.  She's getting some hair!
Eli, giddy over a card.  I love this little boy!
Not to be outdone, my parents brought Dora a princess present too.  She really is a little princess.
Uncle Brian was still there Saturday night.

Eli was dressed well--he got a pitching machine! It was one of the few things he asked for.  Thanks Papa and Lerdleluh!
They also gave him and Whit crossbows.  (Nerf, of course.)
 Think Whit was excited?
Dora got a puppy.  She doesn't like American girl dolls, but she likes their pets.

A family that crossbows together stays together?!?
Here's Uncle Clint standing behind him for moral support in blowing out the candles Sunday night.

 And here's Monday morning!
HAPPY to get his Leap Pad.

 The loot!
Whit was really tired but the kids were so glad to have him there.
Dora especially.  They are so cute and funny together.

Oh and Dora put these on and said, "Mom, now you not poke my eye."  Because I so often do.
Happy Fifth Birthday, Eli! We love you so!

Beach with Uncle Brian

We took Uncle Brian while he was down here finding a place to live to see a Texas beach.  The kids were delighted.  They love Uncle Brian.

Whit buried Dora in time honored fashion!
Marianne came with us!! We love Marianne!  Except she can't go around looking so hot when I am looking so FAT!
 Eli is such a sweetie.
Emmy, that little doll, was wonderful about all of it!!! She was so sweet and LOVED the beach, sand, sun and especially the WATER!

Oh Emmy was SO tired by the time we left.
 McDonald's shakes?  Check!

HOT HUBBY?  Check!!

Eli's Party--He's turning FIVE!

I am so happy and so sad at the same time.  I can't really express how I feel to see my tiny little baby--the one I worked so hard to create and had so much trouble bringing into this world--TURNING FIVE!  It seems to big, so old, so grand.  So many things will happen so fast now.  He starts school and then graduates and goes to college and gets married!! It's all in a blink.  When he was in diapers I was praying this day would come quickly.  Now I am so sad that it's here.  How does that happen!?  I think only another parent (maybe only another mother?) can understand what I mean.  Now that he's old enough for school, I don't want him to leave me.

Oh, but when I look at him, he is so handsome my heart swells and cracks!  For months he's wanted nothing but a skeleton party.  Between being sick and not being excited about that, I just kinda didn't do anything about it.  Then a few days before his birthday he says, "Mom, I think I want a teddy bear party."

DONE and done!  So I booked it at Build a Bear and called a few good friends, VOILA.  Nothing like skeletons.  The kids had fun and Eli had a great time!!
Dora and Alexis, thick and thieves.
 My handsome little rock star.
The boys were representing.  Whit was so glad not to be the only one there!

Some adult fun took place too!
 Look at poor little Colin!
 Max got into the cleaning.
Eli got a dog.  I made everyone else get a bear because I'm CHEAP!
LOVE that hot man.  He took care of Emmy the whole time.
Here you can see lots of happy kids and two best guy pals, too.
I got a great cookie cake--and picked up some cheap grocery store cupcakes to make sure we had enough.  Two guesses what the kids wanted... Of course--they had rings in them!  Sheesh.

Happy Birthday my first angel.  Your mom loves you forever and ever.  You promised me that night you never wanted to leave my house.  You said you'd live with me forever.  I will hold you to that! :-)
