More Isadora...

Most of you are probably tired of photos of Dora already, but for the few who aren't, here are some more.

These are clearly a little older, but my mom took them with her camera and just sent them to me. The first is me and Dora on the day we went home from the hospital, and the second is the same day just after we made it home.

Of course, I have to include a sleeping one... She sleeps all day and is up all night. AGHHH!!!

I snapped a few while Dad was holding her... so here is one of those.

Eli loves the baby so far, but I think that has more to do with how much attention and company he has had since even before she was born. I got a cute shot of him between Uncle Golden and Grandpa. One happy kid...

Grandpa has been great, reading to him and playing with him all day long. Grandma Lerdle brought a Follow the Prophet book to him when she came and he loves it. Hugh has read it to him about 20 times. Here they are reading it...

Whit has the week off, and Eli has taken full advantage by playing trains with him every day. Isn't this cute? Clearly he's having a good time.

Here is a photo of the four of us my mom took before she left to go back home on Sunday morning. Eli's in pajamas, but you can tell he's happy!

Also a two points of interest--I was released from my calling teaching gospel doctrine. It is a relief, since I wasn't sure what I would do when Whitney had to work with two little ones at church by myself, but I am also sad. I have been teaching Sunday school almost since moving into the ward, and it's strange not to have a lesson to prepare. I feel like I am missing out on the learning I was forced to do each week!

The big news though, which Whit insisted I bury at the bottom of the post, is that Whitney was named Chief Resident for next year!! It's a pretty big honor, and I am really proud of him. It will mean more work, but I think he will learn a lot, too. Congratulations Whitney!! Your family is so proud!

One last thing... Here is a video of Lila opening her presents with Eli's help. Her birthday is in March, but since she's out here visiting, we celebrated it a bit early.

Isadora is 1 week old!!

To celebrate Dora's 1 week birthday we put her in uncomfortable clothes and took some photos. She didn't even cry!! She is such a good baby!! And I think she's SO pretty, but I am so biased that it hurts!

Happy 1 week birthday Dora!!

And here's a photo of brother who climbs into the swing every time we turn around!!

Introducing Isadora Elizabeth Baker!!

Isadora Elizabeth Baker was born Monday morning, February 16, 2009 at around 1:45 am... She weighed 8 pounds, 10.5 ounces, and was 20.5 inches long. She is eating great--she latched on, unlike her big brother!! She is the sweetest little baby in the world and smiled at me on her second day of life twice! She also smiled at me again today. I haven't caught it on camera yet, but she is just beautiful. This time around the recovery is going much quicker, too, which is nice. It could be that it's a second baby, or it could be that she was more than a pound smaller, but I will take either one. I was in labor from 6 pm until 2 am--so much better than 21 hours with Eli.

Also, Eli has learned to say Dora. It sounds kind of like Daduh... It's cute!

So the first photo is me on the Birthing Ball! HA.

Then there is one of Whitney dancing after Dora was born...

The next day Eli came up to the hospital with my mom (And Auntie Em) twice and then again on the second day. The family photo is from that second trip on the first day. I am a little tired (and still look pregnant!)

Finally, this is my favorite photo of Dora so far. It's hard to catch her with her eyes open! In case you hadn't noticed, I am making you wait for a good photo where you can really see her--so here it is!! Isn't she a doll!? She has very little hair, but I blame that on Whitney...

Grandma (Lerdle) comes to town

My mom is here visiting (it was supposed to be a working visit to help me with the new baby, but HA, silly Isadora is still hiding.) My mom has still been working hard, of course, because it's my mom, and she just does that (dishes, laundry, bathrooms, watching Eli, etc.). We have also taken some fun photos--which I finally downloaded to the computer. Also as a side note, Eli has named my mom Lerdlele... He says it every time he sees a photo of her, he calls to her and he even cries for Lerdlele when he gets mad at me! He already knows grandma is nice...

The first one is from my mom's train to get here. She flew into Philly and then very nicely took the train to get to Harrisburg so we didn't have to go far to pick her up! So nice!

The next is for those few of you clamoring for belly shots. My mom insisted on taking one. Ick!

The next is because Eli looked so cute--I confessed in a comment on Angela's blog that he eats breakfast sitting in front of the TV. Occasionally he wants to sit on my lap while watch TV and eating breakfast. Cute, huh?

Then here are some of a trip we made to a playground in the mall by Bass Pro. He loves the fish and this playground, too.

Finally, Linsey's post inspired me--he likes our shoes we keep by the front door. Just the other day he put on my shoes, then got my purse and carried them all in to my mom and I in the office!! He was ready to go! Ha! I think it is so funny he and Hayley are doing the same things. I haven't heard that Hayley gets mom's purse yet, though so, watch out Linsey. :-)

Late Late Late

Whitney is always on time. ALWAYS. It is one of the things I find endearing (if a bit obsessive) about him. When we need to go somewhere, we usually leave an extra 20 or 30 or 60 minutes early (depending on how far we are going) to make sure that we get there on time. True to form, Eli came one day before his due date--arriving just a little early. I knew then and there he was his father's son.

Eli looks exactly like his dad. He also, for the most part, acts a lot like his dad, and that is increasingly true as he gets older! Whitney is pretty nutty about things being neat (which I appreciate) and Eli now cleans up all his toys (or tries anyway) and does the dishes and things when he is done. It's cute.

Where am I going with this? I think that inasmuch as Eli is DEFINITELY a Baker, Isadora may be more of a Stuckey. I (prior to meeting Whitney) was chronically late. Most of the members of my family are usually late, Clint and Emma worst of all! HA. Anyhow, Dora is LATE. She was due a few days ago and there appear (based on my appointment this am) to be no signs she plans to come anytime soon. Even though the docs said they would induce me at 39 weeks, they are liars!!! They have finally set me for induction though, next Monday. So at LAST I have a deadline. If Dora can't get her act together to come before then, she will be kicked out of my overfull uterus on Monday, February 16 (President's Day). Then she will line up exactly 19 months after Eli was born. She better not be planning on that, the little brat! :P

On the flip side, Whit says it will be easy to remember--if they are all born on the 16th. Pshaw!!

What will I miss about Pregnancy?

If you had asked me anytime in the last 9 months what I would miss about pregnancy, I would have said nothing. But, I might revise that statement now, in the very last days of my sojourn carrying around an enormous baby... Today the UPS guy dropped off some packages for me, and they were really big. I realized, I will miss that feeling I think other pregnant women can relate to, of people thinking, "Hey, she's pregnant. I should be nice to her." Instead of dropping them on the porch, he carried them inside and set them down for me. The flip side is that I hate not being able to carry anything, feeling useless, etc. BUT I will say it kind of makes me think that people are more chivalrous, more kind, more considerate than I ever have before in my life... because while you might not always open doors for ladies anymore, people unanimously almost do nice things for pregnant ladies... Also, the nice gestures make me feel like I am doing something good--sacrificing my own health, etc. for the good of another little person. It reminds me why I put up with an aching back, a huge belly, heartburn, the weight gain, the incessant hunger, the additional misery when you're sick and can't take any medicine, all the pain of the kicking (Dora keeps kicking the nerves in my legs!! It hurts like the dickens) and everything else that makes me miserable!

Ah, Dora, when oh when are you finally going to come!? :-)

Also, Whit picked Eli up the other day while he was lying on the ground, like Eli was sitting in a chair. Eli LOVED it... so I grabbed the camera and took a photo. Pretty cute, huh?
